Wakefield district covers some 350 square kilometres and is home to 315,000 people in a diverse range of city, urban and rural communities.
Wakefield is a strategic centre nestling between the M1, A1 and M62. It is a City of remarkable historic significance with Sandal Castle , Nostell Priory and the Chantry Chapel. More recently it has hit the head-lines with Xscape, the ‘real snow' centre, the new Hepworth Gallery and a dynamic waterfront development. Wakefield is undergoing major change and redevelopment with massive inward investment all across the city.
The north west and north east includes Horbury, Ossett, Wrenthorpe, Stanley and Altofts, while Normanton, Castleford, Pontefract, Knottingley, Featherstone and a host of smaller settlements make up the five towns. In the south east, there are the towns of Hemsworth, South Kirkby, South Elmsall and Upton as well as other communities.
There are many rural communities in the district dotted about the rolling countryside where there are villages like Middlestown, Crigglestone, Crofton, Woolley and Ackworth.
We believe that God loves our City and he has got great plans for the City, the district and it's people. Destiny Church is committed to play a significant role in see ing God purpose and plans fulfilled.
