Destiny Christin Church, where everyone is welcome and everyone has a future.

About Destiny Church, Wakefield

The Church started around 1986, known originally as City Church Wakefield, and had a complete re-birth and transformation in 1999 when it metamorphosed and began life as Destiny Christian Church Wakefield.

The people of Destiny Church are passionate about Jesus Christ, their faith, their church and the vision that God has given to the Church. The name "Destiny" comes from the deep conviction that the Church, and therefore the members, who now come from many nations, have a special part to play in making a real difference in Wakefield and the world today - the church slogan is 'Destiny - where everyone has a future!'

Destiny Church in Wakefield is at the forefront of many important initiatives that have literally touched thousands of lives to the ends of the earth as it has supported Missions in many countries. Destiny Church Wakefield has helped in rebuilding work in a bombed out town in Bosnia; sent work teams to Malawi in Africa to help build a Church - Community building and an Orphanage, sent outreach teams many times to the Czech Republic and India where we now have a network of more than 100 churches as well as a Bible College.

The Church has also provided training opportunities by running a 'year-out' programme for evangelism training and teaching of theology with the "Master Class School of Evangelism".

There are many talented and dedicated people at Destiny Church who give themselves to serve God and the Community. Most years, a high quality drama/musical is produced. Destiny Church seeks to communicate with relevance, to be effective and earn the right to be heard. It uses every possible means - it is 'high-tech', prints literature, uses music, mime, dance and drama as well as the tried and tested Bible methods of preaching, prayer and praise.

Destiny Church Wakefield is the home base for the apostolic ministry of Ian Critchley and the Destiny Connections family of churches and ministries. It regularly gives and receives ministry from a number of apostolic and prophetic ministries from around the world where close relationships are enjoyed.
